This light source does help with mood; however it is very difficult to use when at the computer. The glare, even when turning the light to different angles, overpowers the monitor screen.

I bought the HappyLite at the recommendation of my therapist to help with the winter months. I use it year-round and it seems to help me regulate my sleep cycle. I usually use it for about half an hour in the morning, while checking email. The light's not too harsh, but you're also not supposed to be looking directly at it. The price tag scared me off for years, but there are occasional sales here on Amazon (I got mine for $149).

Albeit larger than I anticipated, this light packs a powerful punch of energy in the morning - and when you go to college in Ithaca NY, that is definately required in the long winter months. A bit pricy - but worth it.

I purchased this item for my boyfriend, who gets depressed during the long Chicago winters. I had been reviewing these for a while, but couldn't decide on one. One day at work, I noticed my boss had this model sitting on top of her file cabinet. She swore by it, so I went with the very same one. My boyfriend has never seemed so cheerful in the winter time. He is far more productive and seems to get better sleep also. My only surprise was at the size of the light, it is really big. People with less space should consider a smaller version.

I finally realized a pattern in my mood change during the winter months. This year when I mentioned it to my sister she told me about this light. I have always trusted her opinion, so I decided to buy one. I am SO GLAD I did. I use it for 45 minutes while I am getting ready for work every morning and what a difference it has made! My daughters call this "the year of the light". I am so much happier and feel able to cope. I really enjoyed the holidays this year. For anyone who thinks they have seasonal depression, I would recommend they try it. Consistency is important.
